Welcome, my name is Maria Helena Pereira, but I go by Marilena. My husband Fortunato and I joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 2006 when we got baptized. We are both originally from the Cape Verde Islands, which is located off the West Coast of Africa. We speak Cape Verdean creole which is a dialect of Portuguese. English is our third language, and we also speak some Spanish. We spent most of our initial years in Massachusetts where we raised our children. We have now been married for 21 years and share 6 children and they are all grown.
Through our years in the church, we have joyfully embraced the health message and continue to learn and discover more about the wonderful things our Lord and Savior desires for us. The more we learn and embrace from the health message the more our spiritual growth has prospered.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

In 2019, we moved from Brockton, Massachusetts to Seale, Alabama to join the Uchee Pines Health Institute community. We have truly been benefited as our understanding of the Gospel Medical Missionary work has become clearer. The wonderful people we have met here have taught us so much. Through our years here at Uchee Pines my husband has worked as the maintenance manager and I have held several roles such as kitchen cook, housekeeping manager, and farm helper.
The Lord has faithfully led us through many experiences to refine and polish our characters that today we can be a light for him. The Gospel Medical Missionary work has become a central focus of ours to help equip others and to help relieve the suffering in this world. We seek to be God’s hands and feet while we are here on this earth.
The DryLand Health ministry and business began as a way for us to help bring the necessary tools to Gospel Medical Missionaries all around us and to provide simple and healthy products for home and personal use. We hope that you will be blessed by our products and that you will share them with others.
